did someone say lent?

yesterday, was the first day of the Lenten season in the life of Christians, worldwide. as i worshipped in service last night, one question came to mind, 'why do people think that they have to give up food for lent? do people give up the food for 49 days of Lent, then permanently or are they just waiting to re institute the food in their lives after worship service on resurrection Sunday?' i wanted to encourage all of my friends to take two steps to become better Christians: step one daily bible study and step two daily prayer. take one hour each day, to spend time with God in bible study. the bible is our guide book. meditate on the Word of God for 20 to 30 minutes a day (3 to 5 verses) and then asking Holy Spirit to help you understand the Word that you have read. what promises are in store for me? what sin does i need to be delivered from? what blessings do i need to embrace for my own? you have to open up your heart for God to teach you. you have to spend time with God in order to get to know God. in order to know, understand, and pursue your purpose, you must spend time with the one who created you in God's own image.

Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

John 16: 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

God, i want to be a better me. I am committed during this Lenten season, and throughout my life, to spend time, in Your Word, to spend time listening to your voice. God i want to observe all that is written in the Book of the Law. God i have i hidden Your Word in my heart that i might not sin against You. Spirit of truth, teach and instruct me in all things, in Jesus' name, amen.

let this Lenten season be a time where you draw closer to God. God wants an intimate relationship. do you?
