a visit home

on Wednesday evening, i went to see my two aunts, my uncle, and my grandmother. i have not seen them physically in a long time. i have written them. i have talked to them on the telephone, yet i had not seen them face -to - face in a llllooonnnggg time.
as my brother drove, i prayed. i did not know what to expect yet i wanted God to keep me in God's peace. i wanted God's presence to fill both homes. i wanted wisdom and love to flow from my lips to their ears.

i was able to talk to my first aunt about what i understood Christianity to be, based on my walk with God and what passions God had placed on my heart. it was a fun conversation. i love talking to people about how they view God and what God is challenging them to do to fulfill their call and purpose. i get so frustrated by people who are in denial or would rather play before they get serious about their relationship with God. yet in my frustrations, i continue to pray for God's people.

i did ask my uncle, before i left, if he has been crabbing. i want to go in a few weeks. i have never been crabbing and when i was little, my sexist relatives, did not take the girls crabbing. i will definitely call and see when we can go or ask my other cousin if i can go with her.

i was able to talk to my aunt for several minutes, one on one, before my grandmother appeared. i was happy that i was able to make her laugh about a birthday card i sent several months ago. i was also able to share the importance of taking care of your body with proper diet and exercise so she could live comfortably.
when my grandmother realized it was me, she wanted me to stay but i told her that i wanted to go home because i felt under the weather. nevertheless, before i left, my grandmother started talking about blessings from God. i had a problem with what she said because she equated her blessings to what she did as a child. i told her, 'grandma, God blesses us now, because we study God's Word, obey God's Word, and trust God more than any person, place or thing. God wants to bless us daily. we just have to seek God's face through bible study, prayer, praise, worship (individual and corporate), tithing, faith, trust, humility, and hope. both of them just looked at me. i asked God to help them understand. i did not want them to think that blessings had to be acquired over a long period of time.

Deuteronomy 28:1-3 states: 1"Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. 2.And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God: 3."Blessed [shall] you [be] in the city, and blessed [shall] you [be] in the country.

God, please help Your children realize that You want to bless them because they obey You, they observe Your commandments, that they have allowed You to be Lord, Saviour and Shepherd of their lives. in Jesus' name, amen
