specks and planks

yesterday, i spent a few hours with my mom. as we were running errands, i was explaining to her what happened this week at work. i said, 'ma, my colleagues have been complaining about another colleague, yet they do not look at how they annoy people also. no one is perfect. everyone has areas where they can improve in.' its not until i was meditating on Romans 15:1-3 this morning until Holy Spirit reminded me of a parable that Jesus told about specks and planks. 'why do you worry about the splinter/speck in your sister/brother's eye, when you have a beam/plank in your own eye?'

Jesus had a way with words. instead of saying 'judge not and you shall not be judged, Jesus smoothed it out into a parable.' (Jesus actually told us about judging specifically). the best thing about the bible is that the bible is a mirror. you can see your sins, your faults, your weaknesses, your strengths, what you need deliverance from, what you need to confess, who you need to forgive, all with the help of Holy Spirit teaching you as you read and meditate.

i want to be a healthy, well rounded Christian, walking in my call. i know that i can not become the woman i am called to be without yielding to the power of God, the Word of God, the will of God. humility is a lifestyle. patience is a lifestyle. increased faith is a lifestyle and a prayer request. the psalmist said, 'Your Word have i hidden in my heart that i might not sin against you.' if you do not study the word, live the word, seek the face & glory of God daily, how will you do the will of God who sent/created you?

Luke 6:41-42. 41 "And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye? 42. "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me remove the speck that [is] in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the plank that [is] in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother's eye.

Abba, please help us see the specks and planks in our own eyes as we study your Word daily so we can also seek Your face for repentance and deliverance. Lord we want to be light and salt in this earth so that Your people may be drawn to You. God help receive Your forgiveness. As You increase God, help us decrease. In Jesus' name, amen
